Sheynnis Palacios is a 24-year-old woman, born on May 30, 2000, in Managua and raised in Carazo City, about 45 minutes from Managua.

Carazo is known for being the birthplace of Güegüense and Toro Huaco, the traditional and historical dances of Nicaragua. Since 2008, The Güegüense or Macho Ratón has been an Intangible Heritage of Humanity, recognized by UNESCO. The Carazo Department is also recognized nationally for its magnificent beaches on the Pacific Ocean and for being a producer of coffee, sugar cane, beans, corn, and rice, among other agricultural products.

Miss Universe 2023 grew up surrounded by natural fields, sand, and sun, a lot of national identity, and with great respect for the country's culture and traditions.

For many, hearing the date May 30th may not mean anything special, but in Nicaragua, May 30th is one of the most important and celebrated dates of the year.
